Spicy Sloppy Joes

Spicy Sloppy Joes


Sloppy joes with a side of battered wedge potatoes. 

Ingredients 
1 pound 80/20 ground beef
1 package hamburger buns
2 tablespoons butter (divided)
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2/3 cups ketchup
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
3/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce 
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce 
1 small onion, diced (for topping)
1/2 bell pepper, diced (for topping)

Instructions 
1. In a large bow, add the ketchup, water, tomato paste, brown sugar, water, mustard, chili powder, salt, worcestershire sauce, black pepper, pepper flakes and hot sauce. Stir well and set aside.  
2. Heat a skillet to medium high and brown the ground beef till there is no more pink.
3. Add 1 tablespoon butter and the minced garlic, stir and cook for another 3 minutes,
4. Turn the heat to medium low and add the sauce mixture, stir well and cover and cook for 10 minutes.
5. While that is cooking, take another skillet, heat to medium, add the 1 tablespoon of butter, onions and the peppers and cooking for 5 minutes,
6. Serve on a bun with the sloppy joes and top with the onions and peppers.
