Chicken Fried Steak
Chicken Fried Steak
Chicken fried stead is one of my favorites! Cube steak is just tenderized sirloin tip or top round.
Ingredients
4 cube steaks
1 cup flour
3 eggs beaten
1 teaspoon garlic
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
8 tablespoons butter
Mashed Potatoes (optional side dish)
Gravy
2 teaspoons garlic
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup water
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup bacon grease
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
1. Prepare 3 bowls, one for the flour, garlic, pepper, onion powder and salt. Another one for the eggs and one more for the buttermilk.
2. Place all the cubes steaks in the buttermilk and let it sit for 10 minutes.
3. While the cube steaks are soaking, heat a large skillet to medium high with the 8 tablespoons of butter.
4. Set oven to warm, becuase you can only cook one at a time, then place on a wire rack on a baking sheet to stay warm in the oven.
5. Take cube steak out of the buttermilk into the flour bowl, then in the egg bowl and then back to the flour bowl.
6. Cook for 4 minutes a side, then put in warming oven.
7. For the gravy, put all ingredients in a sauce pan and heat to high till it bubbles and thickens, constantly stirring, then pull off heat.
7. Serve with gravy and options mashed potatoes.
