Mac and Cheese Burgers
This was a fun project! It takes some time and patients, but well worth it and you will really impress your guests!
Ingredients
16 ounces of prepared mac and cheese
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon of milk
2 large beaten eggs
2 cups bread crumbs
2 cups of oil for frying, preferably a deep fryer
2 pounds ground beef
Directions
1 Prepare mac and cheese, then spread out on a large baking sheet, cover with plastic wrap and freeze for 2-4 hours.
2. Set up 3 bowls, one with flour, salt and pepper, another one for the eggs and one for the bread crumbs.
3. Heat fryer up to 350 degrees.
4. Using a 3 1/2 to 4 inch biscuit cutter or whatever you can find. Cut into the frozen mac and cheese and make several circles.
5. Take the mac and cheese circles you just cut, one and at a time and coat in flour bowl, then egg mixture and last in the bread crumbs bowl.
6. Cook in deep fryer for about 2 minutes, flipping at each at a minute and set aside.
7. Cook several burger patties and use the mac and cheese circles for buns.
8. Serve with ketchup, lettuce onion and tomato if desired.
